Professional History

Dr. Jain is the Director of Pediatric Cardiac MRI/Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center/ New York Medical College and provides highly skilled patient care and services in the field of pediatric cardiology and cardiovascular imaging utilizing state-of the-art technology. With an experience of >15 years, she is actively involved in inpatient and outpatient care of neonates, children, adolescents, and young adults with congenital and acquired heart diseases. Her areas of interest and expertise include Cardiac MRI, 3D Virtual reality heart models, Echocardiography, management and follow-up of patients with Myocarditis, Kawasaki Disease, Multisystem Inflammatory disease in children (MIS-C) related to COVID and COVID Vaccine-associated Myocarditis. She is board certified both in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology.

An Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Radiology, she holds multiple leadership positions in education and research at an institutional, national, and international level and dedicates her time and expertise to these endeavors. She is the Recipient of the Dean’s Faculty Award, New York Medical College 2021.

Serving as the Clinical Education Liaison, she is the Director of Transition to Residency and Transition to Fourth Year courses at New York Medical College-School of Medicine (NYMC-SOM) and served as Co-Chair of Strategic Planning Student Focus Working Group and member of the Clinical Curriculum Redesign Task Force at NYMC.

She serves on the Executive Committee of the American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Simulation and Innovative Learning Methods and is Chair of the Membership Subcommittee.

She is the Founding Chair of the Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, SCMR’s Pediatric/CHD Liaison subcommittee, and the Vice Co-Chair of the Education subcommittee. She serves on the SCMR’s COVID Taskforce which oversees the guidelines and protocols set forth for performing Cardiac MRIs in COVID patients. (SCMR is the leading professional international organization for clinician and scientist experts in Cardiac MRI).

She also serves on the Steering Committee of the International Kawasaki Disease Registry (IKDR) network, an international collaborative network of clinician researchers studying Kawasaki Disease and MIS-C.

She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Cardiology, and Society of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and is a member of the American Heart Association.

She is the Host and moderator of multiple educational webinars dedicated to sharing important clinical pearls and perspectives on the management of pediatric cardiology patients with a national and international audience.

Dr. Jain’s research interests include understanding acquired heart disease in children such as myocarditis, Kawasaki disease, utility of cardiac MRI. Since the start of the pandemic, she has been at the forefront of COVID related research and has helped build management protocols for pediatric COVID patients including those with MIS-C. She published the first findings of cardiac MRI abnormalities noted in MIS-C in the United States. She helped share the U.S. clinical experiences in the management of COVID patients with colleagues worldwide by organizing webinars via IKDR. She is the site principal investigator for multiple multicenter studies including those related to COVID, Kawasaki disease, and Myocarditis, and is a collaborator under NIH’s PreVAIL kIds and RECOVER initiative.

Dr. Jain’s research has been published in several peer-reviewed journals and she is frequently invited to speak at many national and international conferences.

She is the lead Principal Investigator of one of the largest multicenter studies, called MACiV -Myocarditis After COVID Vaccination, a national study looking at the mid and long-term outcomes in patients diagnosed with this condition, involving > 30 academic centers across the US. The study is endorsed and supported by SCMR and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
