Dr. Maria Bartellino Damanakis is a board-certified pediatrician. She graduated Cum Laude from SUNY Stony Brook with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and minor in Chemistry. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, where she also graduated Cum Laude. Dr. Damanakis then completed a residency in pediatrics at Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown Medical Center. Upon completion of her residency, she was given the Department of Pediatrics Arthur Ackerman, M.D. Award for her commitment to care in pediatrics.
While building her career and following her passion for helping children and their families, Dr. Damanakis has belonged to the American Academy of Pediatrics and holds certifications with AAP neonatal resuscitation program, American Heart Association Basic and Pediatric Life Support, Patient-Centered Mental Health in Pediatric Primary Care (PPP) Program, TeamSTEPPS and Breaking Bad News.
Dr. Damanakis found her love of medicine and caring for children when she worked as a medical assistant during her undergraduate years in a pediatric office. She gained valuable experience and saw firsthand the positive effect she could offer patients and their families. After completing her residency, she continued her professional career as a private practice pediatrician for the past 3 years in Queens and Long Island. Dr. Damanakis strives to continue learning daily and offering the children and families she treats with the utmost care they deserve.
