HE The Chevalier Dr David Warburton OBE, KJ, KCEG, DSc, MD, MMM, FRCP, FRCS, FRCPCH, FRSTM&H, FRSM, ATSF, FAPS, FAAAS, FAAP.
Has recently joined the Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine team at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital. Previously he founded and built a large (>100) programmatic team of colleagues and researchers at The Saban Research Institute, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and at USC, tackling long COVID, global health pollution impacts as well as human developmental biology and tissue regeneration of many organs including the lung, heart, kidney, liver, intestine, pancreas, bone, spinal cord and brain. He is an expert mentor and builder of translational research teams. He has published over 400 contributions to the medical sciences, cited over 25,000 times, H-factor>85, Research Gate >98%ile for reads and citations in pediatrics. He is a thought leader in neonatal-perinatal medicine, lung developmental biology, regenerative medicine and pulmonary fibrosis, long COVID, as well as global health and pollution impact on maternal and child health. Most impactfully, he has led a paradigm shift in understanding of lung injury, from premature infants to adults, by demonstrating the central role of developmental processes such as growth factor signaling and matrix molecules in the pathophysiology of lung diseases across the lifespan including bronchopulmonary dysplasia, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema and lung fibrosis.
