Stephanie Sosnowski, BS, ICCE, IBCLC, RLC, is available right in our office to work with expectant and nursing mothers and their babies. She will provide education about the many benefits of breastfeeding, teach breastfeeding positions and proper latch technique, help with breastfeeding issues or problems and address breastfeeding concerns, including breastfeeding for special needs babies. Stephanie also facilitates our very popular Mothers of Newborns Support Group which is held on alternating Fridays from 1-2pm in the Education Room located on the second floor of Washingtonville Pediatrics.
Stephanie has more than 20 years of experience in perinatal and maternal-infant health care. Most recently, she has served as both the deputy director and the perinatal programs manager at the Maternal-Infant Services Network of Orange, Sullivan and Ulster Counties, Inc. She also has experience as a Women, Infants, & Children (WIC) breastfeeding peer counselor coordinator and trainer for the Orange County Department of Health.
Stephanie has also spent many years volunteering her time with various organizations. She is currently the corresponding secretary for the New York Statewide Breastfeeding Coalition, Inc., as well as the regional coordinator for the Mid-Hudson Lactation Consortium. She also serves on the program services committee for the March of Dimes.
Stephanie earned her bachelor of science in organizational leadership and communication from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. She is a certified childbirth educator, certified IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant), International Childbirth Education Association certified birth instructor, American Council on Exercise certified group fitness instructor, and American Heart Association CPR certified. She is a member of the International Childbirth Education Association, the International Lactation Consultant Association, the United States Lactation Consultant Association, the New York State Perinatal Association, the International Cesarean Awareness Network, ASPO Lamaze and the Empire State Lactation Consultant Association.
In her spare time, she enjoys fitness classes at the local gym, camping with her family, and motorcycle trips with her husband, Robert and friends. She is the proud mom of two grown daughters, Amy and Cara, and a fantastic son-in-law, Michael.
