She values continuity of care from the hospital to the outpatient setting, continuing to manage patients with a broad range of pathologies from neonatal stroke to a variety of neuroimmunologic disorders.
She is active through the Pediatric Epilepsy Research Consortium (PERC) in the pediatric epilepsy research field, with a focus on providing high-quality, cost-effective care. She is currently working in the Value-Based Care Special Interest Group of PERC on a project to better characterize the role and training of advanced practice providers at epilepsy centers. She is also involved in residency education and leadership, having led Westchester Medical Center in starting an ACGME-accredited pediatric neurology residency program. She is also core faculty in the WMC pediatrics residency. Dr. Hirschberger looks forward to partnering with pediatric neurology residency programs in the greater NY/NJ/CT region to collaborate on pediatric neurology residency improvements.
