Penicillin Allergy Delabeling Clinic

We are proud to offer a Penicillin Allergy Delabeling Clinic for our patients.

Many children are labeled allergic to medications like penicillin, amoxicillin, or Augmentin based on past reactions that may not represent a true allergy. This label can limit treatment options in the future. Our goal in this clinic is to safely evaluate and, when appropriate, remove inaccurate allergy labels.

Why this matters:

  • Removing an incorrect penicillin allergy allows your child to receive the most effective, first-line antibiotics when needed.
  • It also helps reduce the use of broader-spectrum medications which can contribute to antibiotic resistance.
  • By offering this clinic in-house, we can improve access to care for our patients.

Who may be eligible:

  • Children 2 years and older
  • Children who had a reaction after 48 hours of taking penicillin, amoxicillin, or Augmentin

Who is not eligible:

Children who have experienced:

  • Anaphylaxis to any antibiotic
  • Hives in the first 24 hours of the first dose of any antibiotic
  • Serum sickness
  • Positive penicillin skin test
