Kiran Upadhyay

Dr. Upadhyay earned his medical degree from Nepal and completed his Pediatrics residency training at BronxCare Health System/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by a Pediatric Nephrology fellowship at Children's National Hospital/George Washington University. He maintains active board certifications in both General Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology.

Following his training, Dr. Upadhyay served on the faculty at the University of Louisville and SUNY Stony Brook. Most recently, he spent 13 years at the University of Florida as Professor of Pediatrics and Medical Director of Pediatric Kidney Transplantation, where he consistently led the transplant service to rank among the nation’s top transplant programs. He brings an exemplary record of service and mentoring, recognized by numerous patient and trainee awards for clinical and teaching excellence. A prolific scholar, Dr. Upadhyay has authored over 60 publications, contributed extensively to national and international clinical trials, studies and served on key committees, including the American Board of Pediatrics’ Initial Certifying Examination Standard Setting Committee, and the Practice Analysis and Board Content Outline Committee. Additionally, he serves on numerous editorial and reviewer boards for PubMed-indexed journals, including appointments as Editor-in-Chief and Academic Editor.

Dr. Upadhyay’s clinical interests include pediatric kidney transplantation, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, glomerular diseases, and pediatric dialysis. He is involved in professional organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, Renal Physicians Association, American Society of Nephrology, and International Pediatric Transplant Association, and has contributed to American Board of Pediatrics examination and curriculum committees. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling and spending quality time at his dual-physician household home with his wife and their two children.

With extensive experience in clinical care, teaching, and research, Dr. Upadhyay is highly regarded for his expertise in pediatric nephrology and kidney transplantation. His leadership will undoubtedly advance our organization's mission of providing outstanding care to our patients and families.
