Professional History

Dr. Amy Jean is a board-certified pediatric endocrinologist with nearly two decades of experience caring for children and adolescents with diabetes, growth disorders, and other hormone-related conditions.

Dr. Jean earned her medical degree from Marshall University's Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and a fellowship in pediatric endocrinology at Columbia University Medical Center, where she also served as an instructor in pediatrics.

Prior to joining BCHP, Dr. Jean practiced in Wheeling, West Virginia, and held academic appointments at the University of Pittsburgh, West Virginia University, and West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Her clinical work has been recognized twice with UPMC's Excellence in Patient Experience Award, ranking her among the top physicians in her specialty nationally.

Dr. Jean has published research on pediatric diabetes, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome in journals including the Journal of Pediatrics and Obesity, and she regularly teaches physician assistant students and medical residents. She has also served as medical director of a diabetes camp for children through the American Diabetes Association.

Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Jean is active in her community as a school trustee and has volunteered with local food and agriculture initiatives.
