Dr. Cowan earned her B.A in History from Boston College and her medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. She then completed her pediatric residency training at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and fellowship training in Pediatric Critical Care at WashU St. Louis Children's Hospital. After completing her medical training, she spent time as a Hospital Physician-Scholar in the Division of Critical Care and Anesthesia at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, focusing on implementation science and resuscitation research.
Dr. Cowan's clinical interests include medical education, ECMO and resuscitation, specifically from the lense of quality improvement, implementation science and interdisciplinary communication/collaboration.
Outside of work, Dr. Cowan enjoys reading, camping, international travel, photography, and spending time with her toddler and dog.
