Amanda M. Jacobs, MD is a board-certified specialist in Adolescent Medicine and in Pediatrics at Boston Children’s Health Physicians, in Hawthorne, NY. She is the Chief of the Section of Adolescent Medicine and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at New York Medical College. She has over 20 years of experience in this specialty. Her clinical expertise focuses on the treatment of medical and mental health issues, including adolescent gynecology, contraception (including IUD and implant insertion, removal & care), eating disorders, medication treatment of depression/anxiety, LGBTQ care including transgender hormones and puberty suppression, and adolescent primary/preventative care.
Prior to coming to Boston Children’s Health Physicians, Dr. Jacobs worked as an Attending Physician and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Adolescent Medicine at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore for eight years. She also served as the Director of Health Services at a New York City agency serving children in foster care and juvenile justice. Prior to her current position, Dr. Jacobs worked as an adolescent medicine specialist in private practice in Westchester County.
Dr. Jacobs earned her M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons (1999) and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemical Engineering from Lehigh University (1994). She completed her Residency in Pediatrics at Montefiore Medical Center (2002) and Fellowship in Adolescent Medicine at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (2006).
